The Best Folding and Portable Bikes of the World …..

As I was foolin’ around on the internet …searching for pictures for this blog I came upon some radical bicycle designs for travellers. Small, simple yet functional….suddenly it hit me…

If I’m going on a relaxing holiday where I don’t need to rent a car but still want to cover lotsa places, what would I need…Can I rent a bicycle everywhere I go? Can I use this in modern airports, where u have to walk miles and miles to the aircraft….LCC or not….u  are made to walk a long way….KLIA, Kansai, Suvarnabumi, Hong Kong….all the same…the question is would I ? shall I ? …..

I would need something that would carry all of my 17 stone / 5’11” and a bit frame without collapsing and making a fool of me in public…something that is light enough for hand carry into the aircraft, wheels big enough for a relatively comfy ride and would last …. But for the sake of interesting compilation….I have not put a ceiling on the price….Remember, these things are specialized and some are made to order stuff, not everybody is looking for one so the demand is somewhat scarce, thus the higher price….but its cool nevertheless…

But remember, when you are doing this type of excursion, do it only in the day…as they say in New York City…What do you get if you cross The Big Apple with a bicycle?.......STABBED !!!

This is a list...not a countdown , I have no idea which is the best....just a compilation...U decide which would be best for you...

Strong, Light, off-road capabilities...no pedal thus less mechanical blunders...Hmmmm I Loike!!

Very cool at modern airports....

As good but with canvas bag...great not just at the airport like the Samsonite...but also in the streets!!
A Scooter is always good and nippy... has a sling to carry it around but does not double as a bag...

This is a Strida...very popular among yacht owners....I was told...simple strong design, stows away very easily..

BackPack design is ideal for city commuters

Hoola Hoops may a wee bit bulky for me...
No need chains and lock!!
This is easily available in Malaysia...from China but the wheels are too small for comfort riding http://www.techfresh.net/a-bike/
Simple but seems to look very fragile...
How cool is this eh???? Seriously cool kan?

Another cool and simple design...

A folding skateboard perhaps?? If engineers could make jet fighter wings folded on aircraft carriers..why not a skateboard???...

So....not interested in cycling? Saving those calories for whatever reasons?? What about with the help of an electric motor for you tubs of lard out there???

YikeBike mini-farthing will give people freedom in congested cities A radical Kiwi electric bicycle is set to change the lives of commuters worldwide. The YikeBike mini-farthing is the smallest and lightest electric folding bicycle available in the world.
Weighing less than 10 kg, it is expected to transform the way urban commuters navigate congested cities by enabling people to take it on buses, trains, cars and it can be stored easily under a desk or in a cupboard.

Yikes!!!
Can't seem to find the link for this unielectricmotorcycle...dang! that's a long word!
Here is another unique conceptual folding bike, the Suitcase Folding Bicycle from Happy bike. Weighing just 8-9 kg, the bike can be folded into a complete suitcase in just 10 seconds. The good news is the bike is actually for sale....
A more conventional electric motor assisted foldable bike....the problem with these type of bikes....the battery pack if rather heavy...
So now what say you??? Wanna go on a holiday on human powered wheels? Make sure u have lotsa anti-perspirant deodorant!!!...

last but not least..

Here’s a trivia question on bicycles….Why can’t a bicycle stand on its own, because it is two-tired…..Baddabing!!!

.Let's Jom!!!!
